Anytime you are around Royal Family volunteers, you hear inspiring stories of generosity and caring. People give up a week of their vacation to work at their local camp. Others work hours baking individual birthday cakes for the campers. The examples go on and on. Last Sunday, Allan and I experienced first-hand the kindness of a Royal Family volunteer.
After the morning service at Palmerdale Methodist Church in Pinson, Alabama, Mike Spencer came up to me, carrying a guitar. Not just an ordinary guitar, but a guitar Mike had personally made, complete with a Royal Family KIDS insignia on the front, and Psalm 40 versus 2-3, inscribed on the back.
Mike explained he built the guitar so he could donate it to the camp’s fund raising auction. The guitar sold of course…to a member of the church. That person then returned the guitar to Mike, knowing it was a special guitar. So you can understand why we were so touched when Mike presented us with the guitar. He asked us to be on the lookout for any camper or Royal Family volunteer that needs a guitar, and give the guitar to that person. He asked us to help him “Pay it Forward”. What an honor to meet Mike and the other dedicated Royal Family volunteers!
