God Knew What we Needed
In the spring of 2016, we were in preparation for our ninth year of Royal Family KIDS camp. It was going to be our seventh year at the same campground. The facility was very nice in terms of the cabins and buildings we would use for our activities, and the food was wonderful. Unfortunately, it became very difficult to schedule our summer camp with the owners for use of the facility each year. We wanted to keep the same exact week for camp—year after year, but this was not possible. The cost of using the facility increased, and we had to spend time bringing new facility staff up to speed year after year in terms of what our ministry entails, and the essence of how we operate. Raising money in our small southwest Missouri community was becoming more difficult. We would begin praying early in the year regarding camp provisions for the upcoming year.
God answered in an absolutely astonishing way!
That same spring, a local publication Connection Magazine, contacted us to do a story. In 2016, the publication featured a Father’s Day story about Cassville Royal Family KIDS Camp and Sadie, our newly adopted teenage daughter. The week before camp, we received a call from a man who had read the article. He had not been aware of the fact that a Royal Family KIDS camp was located in the area, and conveyed how much he wanted to build a camp specifically for our ministry.
This gentleman had already begun construction at a location just 30 miles from us—no farther than the campground we were currently using. Additionally, he wanted to provide the space to us at a greatly reduced cost. We were blown away! We were thinking, “Either this is too good to be true, or God just did something absolutely amazing that we could never have imagined happening.”
We made an appointment to visit the new campground the week after our summer camp was held, and were overwhelmed at what they had done with the land and what they had planned for this new facility. We decided this was all God! We committed to using their facility for our 10th year of RFK camp. During the planning and building phase, the facility heads would keep asking us, “What do you need? What does your camp need?” We just didn’t know what to say, as the facility already had more features than we had at our original one. So they then started to ask a different question, “Then what do you want?” Again, we were blown away.
Only God could have done this! We are looking forward to our second year at this new facility with many added amenities over last year. This blessing was more than we would have ever prayed for, but God knew what we needed. We definitely serve an awesome God!
