All that I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
God Had a Very Different Plan
Throughout each year our team prays for God to extend our tent stakes and continue to make it possible to serve more of our northern California foster children. Over the past 15 years we have been blessed to partner with many different churches and often find ourselves with volunteers from more than 20 church bodies. Over the years, we have discovered great leaders with servant hearts who catch the Royal Family KIDS (RFK) vision on multiple occasions. We didn’t know how God was going to do it this year but we were certain He would.
About five years ago, we were in our first two days at camp. We knew this was the last year we would be sharing this camp facility with the Brentwood RFK. We had all been praying and speculating as to ‘who’ we thought God was going to bring to His Royal Family next … and how? We received a message from the camp office inviting us to meet with the facility leadership. Together with the Brentwood RFK Directors we gathered into a small meeting room. We all assumed we were gathering to discuss final financial responsibility, and the next year’s plans. However, to our amazement, God had a very different plan orchestrated.
The facility directors shared with us their hearts for orphans and widows. They shared how they had been serving children in Africa for over 25 years. They believed God had been asking them to serve locally, and they had been amazed to see Royal Family KIDS at their facility for the previous three years. Next came the surprise we hadn’t expected, they wanted to know how THEY could launch a camp like ours? Over the next hours, days, weeks and months we gathered together and prayed for God’s anointing as we watched His Santa Rosa camp come together. Leaders came forward, provision provided, and hearts opened. Today, they continue to serve the children of Sonoma County through RFK Camp and Mentoring Club.

Having FAITH in San Jose, California
For eleven years, I worked for a small company in the specialty gas industry selling their product globally. Things were going very well until the new owners came in and changed the commission structure, along with other significant elements of the sales position.
It was a time of many ‘unknowns’ in my life. I prayed about the situation at work and all else that transpired along with it, but kept moving forward knowing that God would provide.
After our 2012 Royal Family KIDS (RFK) summer camp, I started to search for a new job. It was an arduous task, as I was searching for positions outside of my industry—the only one I had known since 1983.
I had some friends who worked in Silicon Valley for a company outside of my industry. These folks were instrumental in getting me an introduction and interview with the organization. After spending some time with this prospective new employer, I was hired.
Typically when starting a new job, employers are eager for you to hit the ground running and not be requiring vacation time just two week into it. My new employer was not only receptive to me taking a week off for our RFK summer camp, he compensated me for the time as well.
Camp was the usual blessing that summer, as we served 38 foster children. Our reach to the children continues to be a success, and we give all the glory to God!
I have witnessed so many miracles throughout the years in our efforts to hold camp for these foster children, and I know it’s because we continuously place our faith in God … for all things.
The new job—in a new industry, and time off to spend with the children that summer was a gift from God. It further demonstrated to me, just how important it is to have faith, keep moving forward in all things, and wait on Him.
