“Faith is the virtue of which, by clinging to the faithful of God, we lean upon Him so that we can obtain what he give to us.” ~William Ames
Continuing in FAITH in Auburn, New Hampshire
Royal Family Kids Camp began to serve kids in the state of New Hampshire in 2003, however for various reasons after seven years, the camp was no longer supported. In 2013, the sponsoring church wanted to bring the camp back, so two of us went to directors training in Alabama in the summer of 2013.
Our prayer to the Lord was, “Lord this is bigger than us. If you want it to succeed in helping children experience your unconditional love we lay it at your feet. It’s your camp. You know the staffing and financial needs to make this happen. We are willing to do the work, but we don’t want to worry or be anxious for anything.”
We are now planning our 5th year of camp with the same prayer. God has provided every need—not always in the timing we wish, but He always comes through. Last summer we received a letter from a camper who aged out the summer prior. In the letter, she expressed how much camp changed her life. She stated that she was lonely and had been lost and confused about God before attending our camp. When she was at camp, she had the opportunity to sit in on a lesson about ‘objects.’ The lesson used oranges and orange peels to illustrate how without Jesus we sink, but with Jesus we float. Her life was changed. This camper wants to return as a teen staff member when she turns 16 so that she can give back to other kids. I received that letter a week after last summer’s camp—one of the most challenging weeks we have had. I was questioning God, “Are we really making a difference Lord?” I believe that letter came at just the right moment as God’s answer to my prayer. I encourage everyone involved in a Royal Family Kids camp to remember it’s not about us. It’s God’s camp and He will give you the strength and provide every need to make moments matter for His kids!
