“Faith is the virtue of which, by clinging to the faithful of God, we lean upon Him so that we can obtain what he give to us.” ~William Ames
The Power of FAITH in Watertown Connecticut
The Power of Faith. It all started with watching the ‘Camp’ movie, then God began to tug on our hearts.
My wife Carol, and I decided to get involved after we visited a Royal Family KIDS (RFK) camp two years ago and had a great time. We then took the next step last July—along with two others from the church, and went to North Carolina for directors training. We felt overwhelmed with what was before us as we have a small church of approximately 45 people, but four leaders who went with us to training conveyed “We can do this.”
It all started with a conversation bathed in prayer. We had no idea where the funds would come from? We soon realized it is quite an issue to secure a camp under $35,000.
We decided to press in and believe God will provide a miracle. I do admit, there were times we almost gave up on starting the camp. We were attempting every option we found out there but to no avail. Just when it looked bleak and perhaps not going to happen, God opened a door to give us a beautiful camp fully capable to handle 400 kids. Since we are starting with just 30 kids this year, we know that there’s plenty of room to grow for the future! We spoke about our needs and the director of the camp facility said that he had the last week of June available. The camp facility director also conveyed that the experience would be great training for his staff as a start to the season, and it would benefit everyone. We were able to enlist certified lifeguards, incorporate rope climbing courses, archery, and many more exciting activities at no additional cost. He is also providing us with a chef and waiters to feed us all week. All four of us who are organizing the camp were totally blown away, but we know that we serve a mighty God who is providing a wonderful week for His children. We have not completed everything just yet, as we still need counselors and staff for camp.
Camp is approaching and we are pressing in and watching to see God do the miracles. And … pressing in a little more, as we are almost at 100% staff. We have competent ministry leaders in place and we are still in the process of fundraising, however, we know that we serve an awesome God who will bring forth everything we need to have an exciting camp for the children in our area. We’re watching as surrounding churches and individuals are stepping up to help. We have the utmost faith and realize that God is in our midst when exciting things like this happen. And, we are in the will of God to accomplish that seed he planted in our hearts! We will watch it grow, and bloom, and flower …. beautifully!
