The day started early at registration at Westside: A Jesus Church in Portland. After the campers were dropped off, Justin Lucia, camp director, assembled the group for an introductory session about the fun everyone would have at camp. Allan had the group laughing and screaming as Cookie Monster kept racing from his house to the bakery. (You really need to be there to get the full effect of 55 campers yelling at Cookie Monster to stay in one place.)
As the group waited for everyone to arrive, campers could choose from playing games, constructing things from Legos or making a sculpture from “Biodegradable Packing Peanuts” which we keep in the RV for those times when camps need an extra activity.
Afterwards, campers had their picture taken with the Olympic torch and autographed the parachute. There are now over 1,000 names of RFK campers on the parachute! Soon it was time to board the bus and head off to week of fun and faith-based adventures at camp!
