Our visit to Hillcrest Chapel in Bellingham, Washington brought back memories. 35 years ago I worked in the church pre-school. My salary was $4.00 an hour! This visit was a bit different since we represented RFK during two services. Camp co-director Becca Johnson arranged for the RV to be parked directly in front of the church. There was no way someone could walk in the front door without seeing it!
During the service, Allan and I were recognized with a photo of us on the screen in front of the congregation. Hillcrest Royal Family KIDS camp was one of the first camps in the system and also serves as a training camp. As we traveled the country, many directors told us they received excellent training when they visited the Bellingham camp. Afterwards church members came out to see the RV and share their Royal Family experiences. We even met a young man who was a camper for several years and is now a counselor. He plans on going to graduate school and then work with foster children!
