Now is the Time to Act!
When I volunteered for a Royal Family KIDS camp over 15 years ago, I knew I had found my calling. Little did I know then, where that first year at camp would take me.
Over a series of six summers, I served as a camp counselor and later ‘storyteller’ through various churches who hold RFK camps in Orange County. When I moved to Los Angles—nearly four years ago, I expected to easily plug into a RFK camp and mentoring club in the area. I was shocked that at the time, Los Angeles did not have one single RFK camp. I then committed to help bring camp to Los Angeles, however I could … but just not as a director. I was working full time and never thought I could make that particular commitment. Who was I?
God had other plans.
After an incident that nearly took the life of a close family member, I was faced with the fragility of life and how little time we truly have. If we are called to something, now is the time to act! The next day I reluctantly called Chris, the President of RFK, to let him know that I would take on any new camp we secure in L.A.
As we are now about to launch the first camp through Reality LA in June, God has been so incredibly faithful to provide for what I know is His camp (and He constantly reminds me). Every open door, every coincidence and provision is a remind of His heart to see kids restored and brought into His family. In spite of my weakness, lack of experience, and lack of time, He has been and continues to be more than faithful!
