Because we travel so often, Allan and I have visited over 350 churches of various sizes and denominations. 349 of those churches use PowerPoint, have a rock and roll type band with an energetic drummer and sing songs with a non-descript melody.
Yesterday, I spoke at a church with a choir in traditional robes, no PowerPoint slides and real hymnals! I loved the feel of sharing the hymnal with another person and singing songs with verses and choruses. (Yes, I’m getting cynical in my old age!)
Contrast this with the day earlier: We were driving and saw what we thought was a huge movie theater. Nope. This is just the children’s building at Crossroads Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. We drove the RV in front to give some perspective to the size of the building. There’s actually more of the building on each side that didn’t get into the picture. Oh yes…there’s an entire sports complex behind this building that rivals some college facilities.
At our camp site in Arkansas, we stayed at a beautifully maintained campground. Staff have outstanding customer service skills.
To top it off there is a gorgeous sunset view of the lake and nearby nuclear reactor!
